Every week over the past 6 months I have shared my views on a wide variety of topics with you, often times not holding back in being both transparent and vulnerable as I write about my personal struggles and challenges in life and how I have managed to successfully overcome them.
I’ve been humbled by the responses received from many of you letting me know just how much of an impact some of my blogs have had on you.
As I look at back the most popular blogs, a theme has emerged that you have a strong desire in wanting to continually seek out ideas and ways to enhance your life, making it as fulfilling and rewarding as possible. You place a strong value on having a healthy lifestyle (mentally and physically) allowing you the ability to actively pursue all the simple pleasures in life, whether that be going for a hike in nature or jetting away for a vacation adventure.
This week I’ve put together a list of the top 4 blogs based on your responses, sharing some of the biggest takeaways in each that help you in meeting your goal of living a life you love.
Miracles are like pimples, because once you start looking for them you find more than you ever dreamed you’d see. ~ Lemony Snicket
Do you believe in miracles?
It goes with out saying that I am a firm believer in miracles. I wouldn’t be here today typing this message if it wasn’t for one very big miracle that kept me alive after I sustained a traumatic brain injury! In that blog I write how with an open mind it’s impossible to NOT see all the miracles that are occurring to you and around you each and every day!
What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals. ~ Henry David Thoreau
I fully believe that if one thinks with limits it will lead to a life with limits and I don’t feel this is a way that you want to live your life! When I wrote learning to live beyond your limits I showcased a few individuals who are showing how great life can be despite having to deal with setbacks. These people are living life to their fullest and demonstrating that with the right attitude, so can you!
I timed the release of this blog to be the first week this year to give you something to mull over as you went about setting your goals and resolutions for 2015. Now is a great time to check in to see just how close you are in achieving your goals, if you haven’t done so already. If you see that you have fallen short, stop any negative thought right now and change it to asking yourself what are the solutions in overcoming any obstacles I may be facing in reaching my goals? I offer a great tool on my website that can help you in achieving your goals that you may also want to subscribe to if you are needing that little extra motivation!
The only limits to the possibilities in your life tomorrow are the buts you use today. ~ Les Brown
In today’s world there is no shortage of causes that you can champion with your energy and time. If you are like me, you probably find the real dilemma is in trying to identify which are the ones you want to make a priority at this particular moment. One way I have been giving back since 2005 is in helping out a small community in Rwanda by sponsoring a child. Regular updates from my “son” on the benefits he, and those in the community, have seen in the area of education, healthcare and clean water, serve as a strong reminder of just how far $40 a month can go in developing countries. His letters always put a smile to my face and remind me that I was put here on earth to make other lives brighter which in turn makes me feel better about knowing I’ve made a difference. In this blog I share insight into how by having the right attitude, you can harness the power and sit in the difference maker’s drivers seat!
The human brain has 100 billion neurons, each neuron connected to 10 thousand other neurons. Sitting on your shoulders is the most complicated object in the known universe. ~ Michio Kaku
And last but not least, I am a very strong advocate of brain injury prevention, June is brain injury awareness month in Canada and I will be speaking to this on television in a few weeks time. I also place a great deal of importance on promoting brain health. By taking a few very simple steps in both of these areas, you can dramatically reduce the likelihood of sustaining a traumatic brain injury (over 80% are preventable) while also ensuring your brain is in its optimal state of health, regardless of what your age is.
In addition to the numerous links on keeping your brain safe that you can find on the resources page of my website, I have written several blogs on health and wellbeing for the brain.
Brain Awareness Week is celebrated globally the first week in March and in this blog I shared resources on how you can take control of your brain’s health.
In my speaking engagements I often share specific examples of what regularly do to keep my brain as healthy as possible (one brain injury is enough for me thank you very much!). A key component of this that has dramatically changed my mental health are the benefits essential oils that I cover off in this blog.
I’d love to hear your comments on what some of you biggest takeaways have been on these and/or other blogs I’ve written!
