Denise Pelletier sustained a traumatic brain injury (TBI) in a motor vehicle accident and was given less than a 5% chance of living an independent life should she survive.
With resilience, determination and sheer will, she learned how to walk, talk and read again. Her vivid memories of learning how to walk served as a strong motivator when she completed her first marathon in under 4:20:00!
She leads an extraordinary and fulfilling life today exemplifying how someone with an invisible disability can embrace life after a TBI with dignity, grace, love and acceptance.
Denise received a Bachelor of Administration majoring in Organizations and has established a successful career in Human Resources over the last 20 years. She is an author, public speaker, and traumatic brain injury survivor who brings a message of hope, inspiration and acceptance for other survivors, caregivers and the general public.
Denise lives in Calgary, Canada and is committed to advocating for injury prevention through media appearances and in authoring Emma’s Skiing Adventure. She also spends time at a local brain rehabilitation injury rehabilitation centre volunteering as a mentor and a caregiver, sharing insight into her healing and rehabilitation experience. She takes great pride in being an advocate for TBI survivors.
