I know you are familiar with the saying happiness is a state of mind but I’m curious to know if you have ever looked at this more deeply and thought about what it really means? Does it mean if you always think happy thoughts you will automatically always be happy? Or could there be more to it?
I am going to be speaking at the upcoming Brain Injury Canada conference where I will talk about how I was able to find happiness after sustaining a traumatic brain injury in 2001. For the longest time in my rehabilitation journey I tried to focus on being happy and while this gave me short term relief from all that was going on inside of me, it was never long lasting. And the subsequent falls seemed to get harder and more painful each time.
This changed once I came to realize my happiness was based on a series of decisions, ones I had to make along the way.
And if I hadn’t made these decisions, I shudder to think about where I’d be today.
I will share clips of my upcoming speech at a future date and share what some of the decisions were (sorry, no spoiler alert here!), but in the meantime, I’ve put together a little infographic to share what some of the decisions are you can make now that will bring more happiness into your life.
